Isolation Room Certification and Room Ventilation Surveys
EOC1 room ventilation testing for healthcare facilities focuses on the standard specifications in the Guidelines for Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities. We can provide annual validation of the rooms meeting isolation room design requirements.

In 1968, the ASHRAE Journal published seven years of research and ventilation rates were proposed for all Healthcare spaces. This first proposal ultimately developed into the Guidelines for Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities. These Guidelines have changed over the years and have been managed by several organizations including ANSI/ASHRAE/ASHE/AIA. Testing to these standards annually will verify continued operation of ventilation to meet originally constructed standards or update of room system verification. Typical measurements and room ventilation requirements include:
- Air Exchange Rates
- Airflow Volumes
- Differential Pressures
- Airflow Direction
- HEPA Filtration
Ventilation can reduce the risk of contamination or infection through dilution or removal. Although most spaces in healthcare have specifications laid out in ANSI/ASHRAE/ASHE Standard 170-2008, the most stringent room ventilation requirements and focus on proper operation for rooms include:
- Isolation Rooms
- TB Rooms
- Burn Units
- Operating Rooms
- Central Sterile
